Just Some Thoughts

I (Holly) was thinking last week of the uncivilized tribes in Africa and South America and other parts of the world. It was amazing to me to think that with how much mankind has discovered and invented, the people’s lives in those tribes are essentially the same as their ancestors have been for thousands of years. Was there no one who wondered what could be different or better? I thought back to what I had learned in history, when I was in school, and I remembered that men did not really make big discoveries and inventions until after the dark ages and God’s Word became wide spread. Many of the early scientists, such as Galileo Galilei, and Sir Isaac Newton, began to question, learn, explore, and discover because they desired to know God better through the world around them. I thought of two lessons I could learn from these people. First, from the uncivilized tribes, I can see how easy it is accept the way things are. They have a beautiful, amazing world all around them that meets all their needs, but never searched for the Who and Why. I see a second lesson in the early scientists desire to know God better through the world around us. He has given us many tools with which we can get to know the God we serve better, but it is up to us to use those tools.
